Roy Ingle, “And Speaking of Eternal Decrees”

Having been on the subject of Calvinism’s concept of omnicausality, Dr. Roger Olson challenged Calvinists over at the Society of Evangelical Arminians concerning the controversial book, The Shack. Olson points out that many Calvinists such as John Piper take exception with The Shack because the language in the book sounds rather close to open theism. Olson then challenges Piper or some other Calvinist to write a book like The Shack in which the story explains the Calvinist view of God’s decree and cause of all things including rapes and murders. How does God explain to “Mack” (the fictional name of the man in The Shack) that all things, including rapes and murder and wars and abortions and drunk driving accidents which claim lives are all caused by His decrees and that is supposed to bring us comfort?

It is interesting to think about. You can read the article from SEA here.
