But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

– Romans 5:8 (NKJV)
The following is a true story that I was a part of. I normally am skeptical when I hear experiential stories as the following will be but please know that I firmly believe two things. First, that God normally speaks to us from the Bible and the Bible is the inerrant, infallible Word of God. Too often Christians want a “word from the Lord” but fail to take time to read, study, and obey the Bible when it is in fact the word from the Lord (Matthew 4:4; Hebrews 4:12-13). Secondly, I believe that God is absolutely sovereign and can do what He likes when He likes but He has given us His Word to guide us and to direct us into His saving truth (John 20:31; 2 Timothy 3:15; James 1:21).
Several years ago I attended a pastor’s conference. During the conference a brother approached the stage and asked if he could share something for the people. The man proceeded to explain that during the time of singing praise to God that the Lord had laid something unusual on his heart. He went on to tell us that God had shown him a set of numbers and it was for a certain man in the audience that he then pointed out. The man came up on stage and this brother handed him a piece of paper and said to him, “Brother, God gave me these numbers for you and God said for you to call this number by phone and ask to speak with your daughter.” At this, the man begin to weep. Someone handed him a cell phone and he dialed the number. Before about 500 people he asked for the young lady by name. The number turned out to be a phone booth somewhere in Europe. The person who answered said they did not know the name of the person he was trying to reach so the man asked if this person would scream out the lady’s name on the streets. To his shock, they did and to his even greater shock, his daughter came to the phone.
She had run away from home several years before and managed to get to Europe where she was now homeless. She wept along with her father as we in the crowd sat in amazement at what had just happened. That God would love this man and his daughter so much that He would give this man a phone number to a phone in Europe that just happened to be near the ally where she was sleeping. How amazing is the love of God!
I obviously sat dumbfounded. I certainly believe in a living and holy God but this was incredible to behold as I saw the power of the love of God at work. I found out later that this young lady came back to the United States and is now doing well.
Thank God for His love!
