In this episode of SEA’s YouTube channel, SEA member Dan Chapa and Calvinist TurretinFan consider some remarks by SEA member Lucas Curcio on the Governmental Theory of the Atonement in preparation for an upcoming debate between Lucas and TurretinFan. It is worth noting that SEA does not require one specific view of the atonement but that the view of members much conform to our statement of faith, which states that Jesus Christ lived a sinless life and died on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for all sinners and that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and his resurrection were provided for the salvation of all people, but are effective only for those who believe. Christ’s death and resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation, and only those who believe in Jesus Christ become born of the Holy Spirit and thus become children of God.
